This is for many -- way too many -- guys who can't get their grammar together on their profiles. Are you looking for "someone who takes care of themself"? Then you better look for someone who thinks "themself" is a word.
More generally, if you are a heterosexual man, you should have enough confidence to refer to your future significant other as a female, i.e. "she" or "herself". Referring to the person you want to meet as "they" implies that you don't know the gender you want to end up with, or that you are looking for a polyamorous bisexual relationship in which you'll be dating both men and women. Which is fine, if that's the case. But most of you hetero boys looking for a girlfriend must be so intensely uncomfortable with the idea of commitment that you just can't bring yourself to refer to your dream woman in the singular.

Or maybe they're just being formal? I think confusing your/you're is a far more egregious offense :)
I disagree! Your/you're is bad, but it's just an unthinking typo, while mixing singular and plural in one sentence is really bad writing, e.g. "I'm looking for someone who knows what they want." Mixing singular and plural in one word (themself) is borderline illiterate.
Irish Guy genuinely doesn't think the difference between your/you're is worth learning. I think that's just as unthinking and illiterate! Point being, I think both of us like men with basic literacy skills.
